Istanbul, Fall 2014, view of the Sea of Marmara from Topkapi Palace

I arrived in Istanbul six days ago and crossed the Sea of Marmara from Europe back into Asia.  I was so amazed as I looked around and saw so many sea birds, not only seagulls, but cormorants and jellyfish in the water. The other day, I even saw two dolphins, arching their backs together in a crested rhythm echoing the waves.  I am transformed by this place, the magic of it and the richness of its history, past and present forming and reforming as the wind changes the surface of the water in the Sea of Marmara, near where I am creating.
